Job Title: SHEQ Co-ordinator / Quality Inspector

Location: Peterborough

Salary: £30,000 - £32,000 per annum

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm

About Us:

We are a regional building contractor delivering works across insurance repairs, major projects, refurbishment, regeneration, social housing and local authority contracts.

Our work includes a wide range of construction projects, from day-to-day repair and reinstatement works through to larger refurbishment and planned works schemes. We pride ourselves on delivering safe, well-managed, high-quality work while maintaining strong relationships with clients, residents, subcontractors and site teams.

About the Role:

We are looking for a practical, reliable and process-driven SHEQ Co-ordinator / Quality Inspector to support our operational teams across multiple live construction sites.

This role would suit someone with a strong construction background who has a good eye for quality, workmanship and site standards.

The role will focus on two key areas:

  • Quality inspections — checking workmanship, finishes, defects, snagging, site housekeeping, and overall standards of work.
  • Health & Safety compliance — checking that sites are being managed safely and in line with company procedures, legal requirements, and client expectations.

You do not need to be fully qualified in Health & Safety from day one, but you must have good practical construction knowledge, strong attention to detail, good computer skills and a genuine interest in developing in this area.

The right person will be organised, hard-working, confident using systems, and able to follow processes properly. You will be responsible for completing inspection reports, recording findings accurately, uploading evidence, tracking actions and helping ensure issues are closed out.

The company will support the right person with training and professional development, including relevant Health & Safety qualifications.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who understands construction, wants to move away from being fully on the tools, and is interested in building a long-term career in quality, compliance, Health & Safety and operational standards.

A full UK driving licence is essential, as regular travel to sites will be required using company pool vans.

Main Duties:

  • Carry out regular quality and Health & Safety inspections across multiple live sites
  • Inspect workmanship, finishes, defects, snagging and general site standards
  • Check site presentation, housekeeping and safe working practices
  • Identify poor workmanship, incomplete works, risks or non-compliance
  • Raise issues clearly and professionally with site teams and managers
  • Support corrective actions and follow through to ensure issues are closed out
  • Produce accurate inspection reports with photos, findings and required actions
  • Use company systems to upload reports, update records and maintain audit trails
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Site Supervisors, trades and subcontractors
  • Support operational teams across insurance repairs, major projects and local authority works
  • Help maintain high standards of quality, safety, compliance and presentation across all sites
  • Support toolbox talks, site paperwork, audits and general SHEQ administration where required
  • Promote a positive culture around quality, Health & Safety, process and continuous improvement

About you:

We are looking for someone who is practical, organised, hard-working and confident working on construction sites.

You must be comfortable speaking with trades, subcontractors, supervisors and managers, while also being able to complete reports, use systems properly and follow company processes.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working within construction, repairs, refurbishment, maintenance or building projects
  • Good practical understanding of workmanship and site standards
  • Strong eye for detail and quality
  • Ability to identify defects, poor finishes, incomplete works and poor site standards
  • Good awareness of Health & Safety on construction sites
  • Competent with Microsoft Office, emails, reports and digital records
  • Process-driven and able to follow procedures accurately
  • Organised and able to maintain accurate inspection records
  • Strong work ethic and reliable approach to the role
  • Confident communicating with trades, subcontractors, supervisors and managers
  • Able to raise issues professionally and follow them through to completion
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Willingness to complete Health & Safety training and develop within the role

What We Offer:

  • Competitive salary of £30,000 – £32,000 per year
  • Full-time, permanent position
  • 28 days annual leave, including bank holidays
  • Company pool van use for site visits
  • Support with professional development and Health & Safety training
  • Opportunity to develop
  • Varied workload across insurance repairs, major projects and local authority works
  • Long-term career progression within the company
